This route follows the Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park Trail and the Page Avenue Extension Trail and is the perfect mix of hot and cool with just enough sun to let you break a sweat (which makes the shady stretches that much cooler). The paved asphalt surface attracts walkers, runners, rollerbladers and cyclists (mostly riding road bikes or recumbents, although the paved surface is amenable to all types of bikes).
TO TRAILHEAD: Exit Hwy. 70 at Fifth Street. Head southwest on S. 5th St. (0.3 mi). Continue on S. River Rd. (0.9 mi). Turn left at Arena Pkwy. (1.5 mi). Turn left at S. River Rd. (118 ft). Turn right to stay on S. River Rd. (0.1 mi). Heading south on the lower southeast section of the lakeside trail will provide the best opportunity to coast along and bask in the cool shade of the trees lining both sides of the trail.
