These trails loop out over river bluffs from the historic Fort Duffield, a Union fort built during the Civil War to protect the Ohio River shipping lanes. The singletrack is jammed with rocks, log crossings, climbs, and descents, and freeriders and downhillers (and people who don’t mind tearing up their cross-country bikes) are especially fond of the downhill trail that follows the creek bed. It’s some of the most challenging riding in the Louisville area.
Multiple trails form a web of trails around the fort, but all are well-marked and lead back to the parking lot, so make your own route.
