Except for the steady 4-mile climb to Petersburg Pass at miles 18 through 22 (miles 22 through 26 are all downhill), this route is either a flat or rolling ride through the Vermont, New York and Massachusetts countryside. It’s a great route for touring Berkshire foliage. This area is rich in old-style housing and remote farm land. On the far side of the pass, the route travels past old barns in Breese Hollow’s open spaces and back into Bennington past the 200-year-old Old First Church.
