San Diego, CA: Sweetwater Reservoir

Before the ’07 wildfires, Sweetwater was a fun 18 miles (out and back) of singletrack. With recovery trail work, it should be back in the San Diego ride index in the not too-distant future.

The ride as shown was terminated way short of the full out-and-back due to the condition of the area (damage from the fires). Typically the ride starts from either Sweetwater Summit Park or Singer Lane and Campo Rd ("the steel bridge"), and ridden as an out-and-back. The trail is primarily singletrack, except for the first mile from Sweetwater Summit Park. This ride is suited to beginner to intermediate level, except for a few technical sections as you approach the steel bridge.
