This popular, often windy, cycling route traces Highway 1 through idyllic farmland, small coastal towns, and Point Reyes National Seashore. Although crowded on the weekends, the road becomes more bike-friendly when car traffic decreases during the week. The hills are long enough to make this ride a challenge if you push it, but they’re gradual enough to make it a cruise if you take it easy. Either way, the downhills are long, fast, and wide open—just try not to smile.
