Riding Zippety Do Da from the lower Bookcliffs Trailhead, mountain bikers can sample some of the most select singletrack stretches this trail system has to offer. Riding Zippety will test your legs and your resolve up-and-over very steep (and very exposed) mounds. Turn onto the Frontside Trail to duck and dodge through a line-finding maze of juniper and pinon. After the steep drop off Joe’s Ridge (which features a big-air rock ramp at the bottom), the trail dumps riders onto screaming-fast singletrack before turning off for a final banked slalom stretch on Kessel Run.

Zippety's Singletrack

Location: 39.320554°, -108.714867°
Zippety's singletrack is grippy for the most part, but there are some spots of loose sand--mostly at the top of the steep hills.

Trail junction

Location: 39.309514°, -108.709116°
On the way out, continue straight and cross the cattle-guard grate. On the return trip, turn left at the end of Kessel Run to ride back up the trailhead.

Zippety Do Da

Location: 39.308651°, -108.716412°
Go right at this T-intersection onto Zippety Do Da trail. To ride a longer, clockwise route up Western Zippety (that rejoins this ride at waypoint 7), turn left here and then right at the double-track junction.

Jeep road crossing

Location: 39.323725°, -108.714341°
At the bottom of a descent, cross the jeep road and continue straight on Zippety Do-Da trail. Keep an eye out for approaching cars.

Zippety's steepest pitch

Location: 39.325575°, -108.714856°
Steep and sandy ascent. It would take a real champ to pedal up this steep pitch, Zippety's steepest, but it just takes a bit of guts to (and a lot of weight behind the saddle) to descend this stretch. After a sandy washout near the top, the trail is grippy singletrack.

Exposed ledge

Location: 39.329244°, -108.714234°
At the crest of a moderately steep climb, the trail winds around an uber-exposed ledge. Keep your wits about you and keep pedaling around this off-camber corner.

Frontside turn-off

Location: 39.335617°, -108.713815°
The Zippety descent from the Frontside trail (in the opposite direction of this track) is designated an expert route. Turn right on Frontside Trail and enter a singletrack line-finding maze through juniper and pinion trees.

Joe's Ridge turn-off

Location: 39.337633°, -108.703328°
Go right at Y-junction on to Joe's Ridge trail. Ride along the top of the ridge through a mix of exposed and juniper-covered singletrack on the way to a steep two-tiered drop from the ridge. For a more moderate descent, continue straight on Joe's Ridge and turn right onto upper Kessel Run.

The top of Joe's Ridge

Location: 39.332190°, -108.705833°
At the top of Joe's Ridge, prepare for a steep, two-tiered descent on a mix of sandy and grippy singletrack. Keep your weight back, especially on the first drop. Soon after the terrain levels off a ramp of rocks is set to launch you skyward. Keep your momentum up and your weight back to catch some big air.

Along the jeep road

Location: 39.323691°, -108.709138°
In the middle of a fast downhill stretch the trail runs parallel to a jeep road: stay on trail.

Jeep road crossing

Location: 39.322214°, -108.706895°
Cross the jeep road and continue straight on Joe's Ridge trail on an extended section of fast, winding singletrack.

Kessel Run crossing

Location: 39.319766°, -108.705232°
Bear right at the 4-way junction to continue on lower Kessel Run. The ensuing stretch of single track is a whoop-de-doo roller coaster, complete with banked turns that seem to beg you for maximum cornering speed. If you don't have an adrenaline rush yet, you will soon.
