Though the first 15 miles of the day feature some light climbing out of Sonoma Valley, the grade soon eases off for the rest of the ride. After descending past Los Gullicos Warm Springs, the route rolls by Kenwood Depot, a historic railroad station worth a photo-op. Heading north to downtown Santa Rosa, the scenery turns urban; give your palette a change of pace at Taqueria Santa Rosa before an easy spin out of town that skirts the foothills of Taylor Mountain. The route avoids traffic into Petaluma by taking back roads; food, bike shops, and lodging options are available in this serene canal city. This 7-day ride tours Northern California's wine country. Call ahead to reserve lodging at each day's final destination: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7
