Bike Rack 40-Mile Shop Ride, Sunday 9/7/08
Another weekend of sitting in the pack. A glorious morning for riding. We made it up to Potomac mostly intact, though we lost a few members on the outskirts of Georgetown due to an exposed pipe that caused a double flat. A small group stayed back to fix the problem, and the rest of us clipped along the Potomac Palisades up Angler's Hill. It was a good climb, mostly steady for me, and the group reformed at the Starbucks. The 60-milers took off for the hinterlands, and today, I stuck with the 40-mile crew. Some nice attacks on the hill, and a few decent descents. I peeled off at Jones Mill Road to head back to Bethesda. All told, I was out for 35-ish miles. Not a bad way to start a Sunday. After the ride, I played an ultimate game with my rec league team that had my legs sitting in a bowl of jello...but the inside-to-deep cut is still my go-to move on the ultimate field, and it's not in my nature to let a long disc be up for grabs. Great day of conditioning.
