This transition stage at the halfway point of the Tour will likely be another toss-up between breakaway specialists and the sprinters’ teams. With only two Cat 4 climbs to disrupt the chase, the latter will likely emerge victorious, earning the fast men a chance to duke it out in Saint-Fargeau. The finish is slightly uphill, suited better to the pocket-rocket style of a compact sprinter like Rabobank’s Oscar Freire rather than Liquigas's bulky big man Daniele Bennati.
