Skirting the Swiss border from Colmar to Besançon, Stage 14 may be the last opportunity for sprinters to make an impact on the green jersey competition before the final stage to Paris. Only two category 3 climbs interrupt the flow of the route and the finishing run ends with a straightaway (though slightly uphill) gallop. Cavendish, Hushovd, Farrar, Bennati: all the fast men will be motivated by this route. The day’s break will find it tough to deny the inevitable field sprint on the final stage before the Alps (and maybe Paris).
