Stage 19 will be a recovery stage of sorts for the GC contenders (with the massive Mont Ventoux looming tomorrow), but for the rest of the peloton it represents a last chance of sorts. Any teams that have failed to take a stage up to this point will be desperately trying to make the breakaway at the beginning of this stage. Of course, any rider within ten minutes of the GC will probably have a hard time getting into said break (since it will probably survive to the finish in Aubenas). Saxo Bank’s Jens Voight has won countless stages like this one in the Tour (and other grand tours) and Quickstep’s roster is also stocked with riders who can blow apart a breakaway in its final kilometers (Sylvain Chavenel, in particular).
