Just minutes into this 26-mile-long ride, the trail contours around the edge of Clear Lake and descends into an obsidian playground of ancient lava flows. Yet somehow it only gets better from there. While most of the singletrack is smooth, there are enough tricky descents and tight corners to keep riders honest. Affordable shuttles starting at $40/person, depending on group size) are available from nearby Bend; you’ll get dropped off at the trailhead and picked up at the end.
