Six miles from Ogden, this clockwise lollipop trail begins at Wheeler Creek Trailhead on Ogden Canyon Road. Easy singletrack traces a multi-use trail along the creek. Turn left at the Y-junction one mile form the trailhead to ascend Wheeler’s east fork for another mile toward the Snowbasin Road. Watch for traffic as the trail joins the road and turns southwest for 300 feet before picking up climbing singletrack to the left.
Bridge crossings, moderate grades, and some technical sections—including muddy trail during spring runoffs—precede the 6,200-foot high-point 4.75 miles from the parking lot. The downhill run turns north and crosses the Snowbasin Road a second time.
An eastward spur trail 0.75 miles from the road crossing tracks toward Wheeler Creek's east fork and is a good alternative route for riders weary of Ice Box Canyon’s steep and somewhat technical descent. The trail at the bottom of Ice Box Canyon turns left to re-trace the first mile of this route to the parking area.
