Enter a remote wilderness few venture to go. The Lost Coast of California is a 25-mile stretch of land that while fairly flat, can be as challenging to hike as alpine mountain.

Big Flat Creek. This is a perfect spot for camping. A number of driftwood shelters on both sides of Big Flat Creek and other camping areas back among the trees on the south side of the creek. Continuing on: Follow sandy trail south. No more jeep trail.

Return to beach hiking the rest of the way. There are a number of areas from here to Gitchell Creek that are impassible at high tide. This starts a long stretch of climbing on small boulders.
