Take Antelope Trail up a steep, but not very technical climb to the Bitterbrush Trail. Go left onto the Bitterbrush trail. There will be some downhill, but it's mostly uphill to the Nelson Loop. It's fun either way, but going left will give you a longer descent. About half way through there's an old farmhouse. After the loop, back track to the trailhead.

TO TRAILHEAD: From Lyons, take US36 into the mountains a short distance to Apple Valley Road. Turn left onto Apple Valley then left again onto Antelope Dr. Antelope Dr. ends at the trailhead parking lot.
