Heading west on the hilly terrain just outside of Petaluma, this route quickly escapes to backroads and some fantastic northern California eye candy. Nicasio Reservoir, Roys Redwood Preserve, and Loma Alta Preserve are just a few of the roadside photo-op zones along the way. In late summer, pick a few of the blackberries along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at mile 25. On the latter half of the ride, scenery transitions from farmland to bay views; in particular, the overlooks on Paradise Drive are superb. The road ends in downtown Tiburon (where panoramic views of San Francisco await). After Tiburon, continue on bike paths around Richardson Bay to downtown Sausalito.
