Constructed in 2005, thanks to efforts by the Minneapolis Off-Road Cycling Advocates (MOCA) and Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC), the trail system in Minneapolis's Theodore Wirth Park features miles of hard-packed, flowy singletrack that sweeps through thick trees, as well as a healthy dose of technical features and hairpin corners.
Leave your car at the Par 3 Clubhouse on the Theodore Wirth Golf Course and head southwest on the paved trail adjacent to Theodore Wirth Parkway. Hang a left to duck into the woods and begin the singletrack section of the ride, then bear left again start a clockwise loop.
Rookie riders will have no trouble meandering through the woods at a steady, deliberate pace, while more experienced riders will be adequately challenged by navigating the trail's quick turns and tight corners while pedaling at faster speeds. Remember to respect all sections of trail closed to mountain bikes and observe all posted signs and rules.
