One of the classic ABQ southern routes that's just out our back door. Cultural and beautiful. Shoulders can be dirty and this route is remote in places and has busy traffic in others. It's still worth it.

Start at the ABQ BioPark on Central and the river. From Central heading west past Rio Grande Blvd, turn R into the main BioPark parking lot and head to overflow parking at the far SW side of the parking lots, close to the bike trail. 

 

Ride S on the Bosque trail to Rio Bravo

 

R on Rio Bravo

 

L (S) on Isleta for about 6 miles to Malpais

 

(There's a convenience store on the corner of Isleta and Malpais)

 

R (W) on Malpais to Coors

 

(Turn around here for a 25 mile ride)

 

L (S) on Coors for 8.28 miles through the Isleta reservation

 

L (E) on Griegos Rd on the northern outskirts of Los Lunas

 

R (S) on Los Lentes to Main Street 

 

Take a quick break then turn around and head back.

 

There are restaurants along Main St. Traffic can be heavy and this is not a bike friendly area but you can walk your bike at last resort.
